Last night, I had a nightmare in which I was being menaced by the Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time. I freak out and wake up only to find myself pinned to the bed and the thing's face grinning malevolently at me. It then drops down out of sight and I suddenly see a shadow creeping up the wall and merging with my celling fan's shadow, which then contorts itself into a swastika. I then feel the pressure come off my chest and I rush to turn on my lamp.
Damn hypnogogic hallucinations and all their creepy shit.

Sleep paralysis is a hell of a drug.

I dreamt that I had to clean scary disgusting things out of the shower at a house I haven't lived in for 12 years.
But at least I didn't see the Dead Hand. That would have been scary.

Sleep paralysis. It's real and it is so freaky. My gf doesn't understand it and just gets mad at me when I spaz out.

I surprised I didn't soil my trousers.

Have you tried educating her on the subject? I'd be mad if my spouse or partner didn't understand a condition I suffer from.

I have, but she thinks that I am exaggerating the level of fear. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but if it happened to her once and she was able to understand it, then I wouldn't feel too bad. It is frustrating, but she farts a lot in her sleep so I get to embarrass her a lot for that.

It's happened to me regularly in the past couple of years. I have never experienced that level of fear anywhere else. You feel so powerless.

Indeed, this is the fifth or sixth episode I've had this year.

I've been experiencing it since childhood. It's miserable. The first time I remember it, I was hallucinating that aliens were operating on my paralyzed body.
I've found that regular exercise helps. I have also found that the less alcohol I drink, in general, reduces the frequency. Falling asleep on my back is a sure fire way to trigger it. So I sleep in my stomach mostly.

I've had Eldritch Abominations squirming around my room. The Grim Reaper looming over me and a strange girl lying down next to me.
